A CITY WE ALL HAVE A STAKE IN
A clearer picture.
A higher standard.
HB Watch makes the state of Huntington Beach easier to understand, and the decisions at City Hall easier to inspect.
What this project is
An independent civic dashboard and public-records analysis project focused on Huntington Beach, California. Its central questions are practical: are services improving, is the city financially sustainable, and what did elected officials actually decide?
The city simulation inspiration is deliberate: a resident should be able to see the important signals quickly. The underlying reporting is built around real records, with dates and uncertainty attached. The illustrated city is not a geographic map, and colored indicators are not a scientific ranking.
What this edition contains
This research edition was reviewed on October 20, 2026. It assembles official city records, county data, federal statistics and independent environmental monitoring. Articles distinguish source statements, arithmetic and editorial interpretation.
This is desk research assisted by AI. No original interviews were conducted, no confidential documents were obtained, and no officials were contacted for comment. HB Watch does not imply that it has a staffed newsroom or that every city record has been reviewed. Findings should be evaluated through their linked evidence.
Independence and standards
HB Watch is not a City of Huntington Beach website and is not affiliated with its council, political campaigns or any public agency. The same evidentiary standard applies to every councilmember. A lawsuit, disputed policy or unanswered question is not in itself evidence of corruption or misconduct.
We report documented positive results as well as problems. We distinguish council choices from staff work and regional conditions. We do not award elected officials sole credit for inherited investments, or sole blame for broader market trends.
Corrections & right of reply
A correction should identify the page URL, the precise statement, and a primary source supporting the change. Documentary responses from officials and residents should be evaluated under the same standard. Confidential information and personal details should never be posted publicly.
Submission channel not yet configured
The publisher must configure a public editorial contact before this project can receive corrections or replies. This website does not currently collect or send submissions. The source links remain available for readers to independently inspect each finding.
Accuracy and uncertainty
This independent, AI-assisted research edition may contain errors, omissions or source revisions. Agency statements are attributed, estimates retain their measurement periods, and editorial assessments are labeled. We do not independently audit every underlying record. Check responsible agencies for current election, emergency, legal and property information.
Inspect known evidence gaps and the public corrections log. A disclaimer is not a substitute for correcting a known error; unverified statuses are not published as established findings.
Updates and data freshness
This site publishes a reviewed research snapshot. It does not automatically scrape data into published findings, run unattended investigations, or promise daily updates. Future editions should recheck source changes, new measurement periods and subsequent actions before changing assessments. Review dates change only when an editor actually rechecks the relevant records.
Privacy
This version has no advertising, analytics trackers, user accounts, newsletter forms or browser storage. Fonts and artwork are served locally. Hosting infrastructure may process standard request metadata. Interactive maps request basemap and aerial tiles from Esri, which receives ordinary request metadata such as your IP address. Geographic overlay snapshots and place searches are served or processed locally by this site. No geolocation permission is requested. External sources and mapping providers use their own privacy policies.
Use and reuse
Indicator exports are available as CSV and JSON. Preserve reporting periods, source links and caveats when reusing the data. Source documents belong to their respective publishers. A corrected figure should prompt a review of any associated calculation and assessment.
