AN INDEPENDENT LOOK AT HUNTINGTON BEACHPUBLIC RECORDS. LOCAL IMPACT.

CHECK THE EVIDENCE. SEE THE LIMITS.

Accountability starts
with our own work.

HB Watch combines published records, calculations and editorial analysis. Sources can contain errors, estimates can change, and later decisions can supersede an earlier record. We correct known errors and identify what we cannot verify.

Accuracy and uncertainty disclaimer

This is an independent, AI-assisted desk-research edition reviewed October 20, 2026, before that evening’s council meeting. It is not an official city service, a complete record, or a guarantee of accuracy or completeness. We have not independently audited every agency’s underlying records. Uncertain claims are qualified at the point of use; a disclaimer does not turn an unsupported claim into a fact.

For voting, emergencies, beach advisories, legal status, zoning or property decisions, check the current responsible agency. Historical counts, permits and authorizations are not current conditions, completed work or proof of council causation.

HOW TO READ A CLAIM

Five different kinds of evidence.

Published record

An agency or publisher reports a figure or records an action. We identify who reported it and its period; this does not independently validate every underlying event.

Estimate or model

A survey, point-in-time count or technical forecast has measurement limits. Preserve its population, geography, method and time period.

HB Watch calculation

Arithmetic such as percent change uses cited inputs. A correct calculation does not eliminate uncertainty in those inputs.

Editorial interpretation

Assessment colors, priorities and questions are judgments informed by evidence. They are not scientific grades, endorsements or causal findings.

Unverified or secondary

A current status that could not be extracted, a missing operative order or a media report is labeled. We do not treat requests as rulings or alleged facts as established findings.

PUBLIC CHANGE RECORD

Corrections & clarifications.

  1. Added direct attribution and measurement limits to dashboard cards, charts and voter-issue facts; distinguished interpretation from source records; exposed unverified legal statuses and draft-minute metadata; added age and post-election notices. Replaced the broken water-report link with the State Water Board archive and updated the attributed disclosure to the 2026 report covering 2025 testing. Added the official November 10, 5 p.m. mail-ballot receipt deadline and clarified that Census commute time excludes workers at home. Added sampling-uncertainty guidance and complete source references in downloadable data.

  2. Added the official 11-candidate council roster, candidate statement links, election logistics and dated Census context. Candidate claims are attributed to their authors; this edition has no endorsements.

  3. Published agency map snapshots with retrieval dates, source vintages, coverage limits and the number of crash records that could not be mapped.

A correction should identify the exact statement, page and supporting primary record. The publisher’s submission channel remains unconfigured. This site does not claim that it can currently receive submissions.

SOURCE AVAILABILITY, SEPARATE FROM FACT CHECKING

Inspect the original records.

A working link does not prove a claim true. An inaccessible link does not prove it false. HTTP checks record whether a source could be reached from this audit environment; they do not audit its contents or establish later legal status.
